Recipe: Gyros

This recipe is actually two recipes and maybe even three recipes so I think the best way to deal with it is to do them all at once despite the wall of text effect it gives.

Serves 4
For the Sauce
  1. 1/2 cup cucumber, chopped
  2. 1 teaspoon salt
  3. 1 cup plain yogurt
  4. 1/4 cup sour cream
  5. 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  6. 1/2 tablespoon rice vinegar
  7. 1 teaspoon olive oil
  8. 1 clove garlic, minced
  9. 1 tablespoon chopped fresh dill
  10. 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
For the Chicken
  1. 4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
  2. 1/2 cup balsamic vinegar (I used rice vinegar again because I like the flavor)
  3. 1/4 cup olive oil
  4. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  5. 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  6. 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  7. 1 teaspoon dried basil
  8. 1/4 teaspoon salt
  9. 1/2 teaspoon pepper
For the Sauce
  1. Stir all the ingredients together in a bowl and sit aside.
For the Chicken
  1. Put all that stuff in a Tupperware and marinade for an hour to overnight.
  2. To cook the chicken simply grill it for 6-8 minutes on each side.
  3. Dice the chicken, slather on some sauce and add your toppings.
  1. It's not that complicated it just has a bit of a laundry list of ingredients.
