Recipe: Onion Chutney

A delicious, cheap, and dead simple chutney that makes the perfect condiment for breads, sandwiches, burgers, or even as a dip for crackers and chips!

Onion Chutney
Serves 6
  1. 1/2 onion
  2. 2 jalapenos or other small chilies
  3. 1 tablespoon oil
  4. 1 teaspoon mustard seed
  5. 2 teaspoons curry powder
  6. paprika, cumin, turmeric, and fennel, to taste
  7. 1/4 teaspoon tamarind paste
  8. salt and pepper, to taste
  1. Heat a oil in a saucepan until hot, add all the ingredients and saute until the onions are cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.
  2. Switch off the flame, add the tamarind piece and stir to combine.
  3. After it's cooled add a small amount of salt and water and blend until smooth and adjust seasoning as desired.
