Recipe: Sandwich Bread

Exactly what it says on the tin, this is your every day completely basic sandwich bread. It’s perfect making grilled cheese, dipping in soups, making thick toast slices of and tasting just gently of yeast and butter while it’s gentle smell fills your nose.

Serves 10
  1. 3 cups flour
  2. 1/2 cup milk
  3. 2/3 cup hot water
  4. 1/4 cup melted butter
  5. 2 tablespoons sugar
  6. 1 1/4 teaspoons salt
  7. 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  1. In a stand mixer or large bowl combine all the ingredients until a dough forms. Then kneed or mix with a dough paddle for about 5-6 minutes until the dough is smooth and shining.
  2. Grease a bowl and place the dough inside and let rise until doubled in sized, about 90-120 minutes.
  3. Shape the risen dough in to an log and place in a loaf pan, then cover for greased wrap or a towel and let rise again for about an hour until the dough domes over the edge of the loaf pan.
  4. Preheat your oven to 350°F and once ready, bake the bread for 30-35 minutes until the top is a golden brown.
