Recipe: Turkey Stroganoff

A staple for some people but not a food I’m personally in love with this is a fairly easy and pretty decent  version of stroganoff using ground turkey which is great because it means you don’t have to cut up any meat. You can sub in any other ground meat you like or even add more vegetables to make it more unique and a little more healthy.

Ingredients
  1. 50g butter
  2. 2 onion, chopped
  3. 400g cremini mushrooms, sliced
  4. 450g ground turkey
  5. 40g flour
  6. 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  7. 250ml chicken broth
  8. 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  9. 100g sour cream
  10. 500g egg noodles, cooked and drained
  11. salt, pepper, parsley to taste
Instructions
  1. In a dutch oven or deep skillet, melt the butter. Add the onion and cook until slightly browned, about 8 minutes.
  2. Stir in the mushrooms and cook until they begin to brown as well.
  3. To the pan add the turkey, flour, paprika, salt, and pepper and cook until turkey is almost cooked through.
  4. Add the broth and Worcestershire sauce and bring to a simmer then cook until the sauce thickens.
  5. Turn the heat off and stir in the sour cream then adjust seasoning to taste and serve over egg noodles.
Notes
  1. When you add in the onions you can add other finely chopped vegetables such as carrots of zucchini.
  2. I added peas and spinach near the end of the cooking as well.
