Recipe: White Pizza

I always struggle with which recipes are unique enough to post but I feel like white pizza is different enough to be a separate entry. While this picture of my last white pizza is nothing to write home about, the sauce itself is delicious and the flavor is much lighter meaning you can top your pizza with even more delicious things.

It takes an extra step but it's worth it if you want to mix up pizza night.

  1. 1 ball of your favorite pizza dough
  2. 1 tbsp. unsalted butter
  3. 2 cloves garlic, minced
  4. 1 tbsp flour
  5. 1/2 cup milk
  6. 1 oz cream cheese
  7. 2 tbsp parmesan cheese
  8. to taste: red pepper, paprika, salt, and pepper
  9. to top: olive oil
  10. toppings: onions, mushrooms, spinach, etc.
  1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  2. In a medium saucepan set over medium-low heat, add butter.
  3. When melted add the flour, garlic, red pepper flakes, and cook for about a minute.
  4. Mix in the milk, cream cheese and parmesan until melted, about 3-5 minutes until sauce begins to thicken. Remove from the heat and allow to cool.
  5. While the sauce cools, roll out dough as usual then brush with olive oil.
  6. Spread the warm sauce over top, top pizza with toppings, and then cover with cheese.
  7. Place in the oven and bake for 10-15 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  1. It's hard to tell when the sauce has thickened enough so I'd suggest turning the heat off when you think it might be ready because it will thicken as it cools and you can always heat it up again or add a touch of milk or flour to adjust the texture.
